Kars Sebastian Keen

Kars Sebastian Keen was born in Bonn, in 1969. He studied violoncello with Hans Erik Deckert (Aarhus/DK), Moray Welsh, Hannah Roberts (both Manchester/UK), Brunhard Böhme (Weimar/GER) and Composition with Simon Parkin (Manchester/UK). In 2001, he became principal cellist of the Meininger Hofkappelle. Since then, his chief conductors have been Kirill Petrenko and Alan Buribayev a.o.

Mr. Keen taught for over 10 years at the Hochschule für Musik in Weimar. In 2007, he was a founding member of the "12 Thüringer Cellists", comprised of the leading cellists in Thuringia/Germany. For this ensemble he wrote and arranged numerous pieces, some of which have been recorded on CD.
