Mozart Symphony No. 35 (Haffner) – Violin I Part

Edited by Norman Carol

Title: Symphony No. 35
Composer: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Instrument: Violin
Edited By: Norman Carol
Instrumentation: Orchestral
Pages: 8

The first violin part for Mozart's Symphony No. 35 in D major, K. 385 (nicknamed the Haffner Symphony) has been edited by Norman Carol, the legendary former concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra, who held the position from 1966 to 1994. Carol's bowings, fingerings and other editorial markings have been added throughout the score.

Mozart's Symphony No. 35 is known as the Haffner Symphony because it was commissioned by the prominent Salzburg Haffners for Sigmund Haffner's ennoblement. Originally taking the form of a serenade, the composition for the ennoblement would eventually evolve into the Haffner Symphony, which received its first performance in 1783 at the Vienna Burgtheater.
