-George Neikrug
Henryk Wieniawski was considered a violinist of true genius and wrote some of the most important works in the violin repertoire. Anton Rubinstein called Wieniawski ‘without a doubt the greatest violinist of his time’. As a composer, Wieniawski combined the technical advances of Paganini with Romantic imagination and Slavonic coloring. His Polish nationalism is evident in his mazurkas and polonaises. The famous Scherzo Tarantelle is very popular for its Slavic colors and great virtuosity that falls nothing short of bravura! In this cello transcription George Neikrug has tried to be true to the original violin score note for note.
