Ovation Press will publish a complete selection of orchestral excerpts that are commonly used in auditions. All excerpts will be edited by prominent and legendary concertmasters and principals of major orchestras. The editors will preserve the composer’s original markings while providing bowing and fingering suggestions with a level of detail unmatched by any edition of orchestral music available today. In most instances, complete works will be edited and published, rather than just the most important passages.

In addition to the standard repertoire, Ovation Press will provide previously unpublished historical editions and transcriptions, bringing back to life the editions of masters such as Emanuel Feuermann, Frank Miller, and Luigi Silva. New transcriptions of music for viola, cello, and bass will also be made bringing familiar music to other instruments.
To celebrate the Luigi Silva Centennial Celebration at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in March 2004 and the launch of Ovation Press, two pieces were published and sold at the festival: Boccherini Sonata in C Major, G 17, and a transcription of Paganini’s Le Streghe, Op. 8.
The Boccherini Sonata was composed for solo cello and bass accompaniment. Luigi Silva’s keyboard realization, from Boccherini’s bass accompaniment, is done extremely tastefully. It supports and enhances the solo cello’s lyrical and virtuosic quality. This sonata is one of the very finest by Boccherini. Luigi Silva’s transcription of Le Streghe is a wonderful new addition to the cello repertory.
